A Word from Our Girls Who Code Instructor, Shaista Malik:
Hello everyone!
I'm Shaista Mallik, and looking very forward to working with both parents and girls as part of the Girls Who Code team. I went to college at The Ohio State University, graduating with a degree in Chemical Engineering in 2015. I currently work for a industrial automation company, Emerson Electric. We use engineering, science, coding and other creative / technical skills on a daily basis to make products and solutions for our customers, in multiple industries. What inspires me at work is what inspired me to be involved with Girls Who Code: the world is changing every day and there is an undeniable quest to create a diverse, multi-faceted work force - and that means getting more girls to get excited about STEM careers, so they grow up to get a seat at the table. But one step at a time! I'm excited to guide our West Orange group of girls, and also learn along the way.
Thank you,
