To obtain a West Orange Library card please bring a valid form of photo identification and proof of your current West Orange residency (e.g. mortgage statement, lease, or utility bill). For children, please bring a copy of their birth certificate, school ID card, or report card in addition to their parent or guardian's valid photo ID and proof of residency. Library cards are issued on site by our staff. Accepted forms of photo identification include: valid driver's license, passport, or state issued identification.
Membership to the West Orange Public Library includes membership to the Bergen County Cooperative Library System (BCCLS) and the Reciprocal Borrowing and Lending (ReBL) system with participating Essex County libraries.*
If you are not a West Orange resident but you own property, work, or attend a West Orange school you are entitled to a Courtesy Card. To obtain a Courtesy Card, please bring a valid form of photo identification and proof of property ownership (such as a tax bill), proof of employment in West Orange (acceptable forms include: a pay stub or current letter from employer), or your school ID. Courtesy Card holders are able to place item-level holds on materials owned by the library that issued the Courtesy card.
If you live in one of the participating ReBL townships and wish to borrow materials from the West Orange Library please obtain a current ReBL sticker from your home library and bring a valid photo ID so we may register your card in our system. ReBL patrons may borrow 7-Day DVDs (with the exception of new children's DVDs) and 28-Day materials.

The Library also offers a Paid Membership Card. Paid memberships are for people who live out of town, but would like to enjoy the services provided by the West Orange Public Library. Paid memberships may reserve West Orange materials and request Interlibrary Loans however these requests must be made through the Reference Department. Unfortunately Paid Cards do not have privileges at other BCCLS Libraries or for eBCCLS. A paid membership card is $100 for one year or $30 for three months. If you would like to suggest a library purchase, complete form or email lpeker@westorangelibrary.org. Please include the item title, author, ISBN (and edition when applicable), and your contact information.
The Library accepts payment for fines in the form of cash, check, or credit card. Credit payments are subject to a $1.00 convenience fee. The library does not accept payment online or over the telephone at this time.
The Library accepts book donations of popular fiction published within the last three years. Due to a lack of space, the Library is unable to accept all donations. As a courtesy, the Reference Department has compiled a list of locations that accept material donations.
